This yummy fruit is huǒ lóng guǒ "fire dragon fruit" - you can see how it kind of looks like it could be on fire! It is rather similar in taste to a kiwi fruit. Possibly a bit sweeter. It has the same black crunchy seeds but is a little meatier - maybe like honeydew melon meets kiwi. However you describe it - it's delicious! I've been going across the street to buy one from the fruit vendors almost everyday! They are about 6-8 RMB ($1-$1.25) each.
